This is the first newsletter I am sending out. First of all, I hope you are fine, and I am grateful to all of you who are reading. Anyway, let us Begin.
As many of you might know, I am interested in literature. I want to talk about a few things about it. Two, to be specific. First, when does a ‘classic trope’ become a cliche? There must be a time when a nerd would have been a novel idea, and when it was just a trope that everyone loves, and then it transitioned into a cliche. Where do we, as readers, draw the line? And surely we draw the line, right? I am confused on both fronts. Replies on this e-mail will come directly to me, so do send your thoughts if you have any.
Another thing I found was an array of articles written on the topic of opening sentence/paragraph. Not only novels, but also stories, and even articles. I was astounded at the stark difference between them. A novel has to start with something beautiful, yet conflicting. An article just has to grab attention, be it through a quote, controversial statement or anything else. The story was the most curious of them all. It has to be discreet and yet revealing. Obviously, I am changing up a lot of things. This was not how the articles mentioned it, but this is how I perceived them.
A few things I enjoyed this month: (Also, reply with things you enjoyed!)
Book—'Down And Out In Paris And London’ by George Orwell was my favourite, above ‘The Great Gatsby’. Both links lead to my reviews.
Music— This month I was pretty much addicted to Kendrick Lamar. I listened to many other artists, but none as much as him. I listened to his ‘good kid m.A.A.d. city’ and ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ multiple times. At first, I preferred the former, but by the end of the month, I was completely in love with the latter. A few of the ‘deep cuts that I have been loving are Hood Politics, For Free, and from other artists, ‘Perm’ by Bruno Mars, ‘Starlite’ by Anderson .Paak. Give them a listen!
Youtube—I know many newsletters include games and shows, but I do not indulge in any of these, I am addicted to YouTube, though. Some channel I feel are underrated include ‘Todd in The Shadows’, which is a music channel, and ‘Colin And Samir’, about content creation. Others include ‘R.C. Waldun’, ‘Alfo Media’ and I will stop. Also, pray for Austin McConnell. He is one of my favourite YouTubers and this broke me.
So, there are a few things that came to my mind this month, and I wanted to write about them, but just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Here are some of those:
First, I wanted to write about an article I read from Tim Denning, about how some content creators become hamsters. I just moved on, because I didn’t find anything that sparked interest in me. However, after a few minutes, it struck me. So, I have been reading a lot of George Orwell lately, and it is visible through my feed. That article was eerily similar to Animal Farm’s story. The animals, by the end, didn’t even know what, and why they were doing work, but they did. I just thought this was interesting.
Second, I have a draft titled ‘My Billion Dollar Wishlist’. It is exactly what you think it is. I thought it is very corny, so didn’t publish it. However, I spent well over three hours researching different real estates, islands, aeroplanes, trusts, and other things.
Third, I have very strong thoughts on discrimination…based on age. Yeah, I said it, every child’s mind has this thought. I, for this fact alone, did not publish it. It is too random for adults and too generic for kids, no one gets anything.
If you are reading this, I hope you enjoyed reading until here. You can find me on Medium, Twitter, Goodreads and nowhere else. I found this on Zulie Rane’s newsletter:
Nice. I have a Patreon, but it was just to get entry into a small game on Twitter.
Thank you for reading, that’s it then!
